Weekend Roundup

Oxfords United lead at the top of the Blue Square premier was cut to just 5 points after they lost 3-1 to Kidderminster Harriers, and Luton Town beat Grays 2-0 at the New Rec. The game of the weekend must have been at Stevenage as they beat Gateshead 5-3 to go into joint second with manager less Kettering Town. The Poppies recorded a 2-0 away win at Cambridge United. At the bottom Chester are still in negative points as they crashed to 3-1 to Tamworth. Ebbsfleet United are sat on nine points after they lost 1-0 to York City at the Kit Kat Crescent. Forest Green Rovers got a point closer to safety as they travelled to Moss Lane and recorded a 2-2, despite being 2-0 down after just 22 minutes.

In the Blue Square North Eastwood Town gained on Southport after they beat Blyth Spartans 3-1 and Southport were held at home 1-1 by Ikleston Town. Alfreton Town and Corby Town both won as Droylsden game was called off. The performance of the weekend surely must have been at Highbury as Fleetwood Town as they beat Redditch United 8-0. The defeat leaves Redditch in the drop zone just above Vauxhall Motors and Harrogate.

Newport County continued their impressive form this season as they consolidated top spot thanks to 2-0 victory against Bromley. Of the playoff places none of the four teams won as Thurrock game against Woking was called off, and Dover Athletic and Basingstoke Town both lost. At the bottom Weymouth got a much needed victory over Bishops Stortford to pull within six points of Worcester City. Lewes lost 1-0 to Eastleigh thanks to an own goal in the second minute, while at Woodspring Park Weston-super-Mare beat second placed Dover to pull themselves level on points with Worcester City.
