Ilkeston Town - Consigned to the history books
It is sad to have to report that Ilkeston Town Football Club has been wound up, thanks to the petition from HM Customs and Excise, over a £47,000 unpaid tax bill. Despite the club chairman trying to sell the club and the potential sale of a player for £20,000 in the coming weeks, this was not good enough. The court described the club as "plainly insolvent".
This judgement closes the book on 65 years of history.
Another sad day for football.
