Tuesdays Action Roundup - Blue Square Premier
There was a new full programme in the Blue Square North last night as Oxford United extended their lead at the top of the table thanks to an injury time winner from James Constable. It looked like Oxford would be on the end of their third away defeat of the season as Crawley Town were leading thanks to a 17th minute Thomas Pinault goal. The Red Devils held the lead until the 83 rd minute when Adam Chapman strike.
Stevenage Borough lost on the road for just the second time this as they travelled to Ebbsfleet United. Yemi Odubade put second placed Boro ahead in the first half. But 6 second half minutes saw the game turned on its head thanks to a brace from Stefan Bailey.
Richard Brodie continued his impressive goalscoring form as he hit the winner at Nene Park as York City moved within 4 points of Stevenage Borough. The Minstermen went home with a 1-0 victory.
Mansfield moved into the playoff places thanks to a 3-1 win at Gateshead despite being a goal down at half time thanks to a strike from Michael Mackay. The second half however belonged to the Stags as they scored 3 goals. Oliver Hotchkiss scored on the hour mark with a fine 30 yard shot. 10 minutes later Andy Burgess, on loan from Rochdale, scored with a 20 yard effort. The game was wrapped up thanks to another loanee in injury time at the end of the game. Lee Morris on loan from Hereford United put the game beyond doubt.
At the bottom of the table, Chester City's season just gets worse at they visited the Abbey Stadium, but went home empty handed thanks to a 90th minute goal from Danny Crow. Cambridge United are in 10th place in the table.
Another late goal came at the Racecourse as Forest Green Rovers lost to Wrexham thanks to a Wes Baynes goal in the 89th minute. The goal came from a free kick which saw an early bath for Forest Greens' defender Ollie Thorne. This was Wrexhams' first victory in five games.
Lee smith, making his debut since signing for Histon in the summer, ensured that the visitors left Grays with all 3 points. Smiths goal came after 33 minutes and leaves Grays' placed 21st in the Blue Square Premier and 4 points behind Eastbourne Borough.
In other games in the Blue Square Premier Barrow left Moss Lane thanks to a 85th minute Craig Nelthorpe goal, which means Altrincham have only won 2 games at home this season.
Hayes & Yeading took a share of the points at home with Eastbourne Borough thanks to an injury time penalty from Debutant Steve Basham, who is on loan from Luton Town. Jamie Taylor gave Eastbourne an early lead thanks to a strike from 20 yards.
Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth played out a goalless draw at Aggborough. Harriers' Chris McPhee missed a penalty in the first half as it was saved.
A second half brace from Jon Main handed AFC Wimbledon the points as they beat struggling hosts Salisbury. Main has now scored 11 goals this season.
